Minister’s Profile

Rev. Heather Kennedy has come to Ellesmere Co-operating Parish for a short term Stated Supply

Ministry until the end of January 2019. Having trained in Transitional Ministry she has been given

the task of transitioning the parish through the process with the Methodist Church, for them to be

matched with a new Presbyter for five years from February 2019.

Rev. Heather was previously the Assistant Minister at First Presbyterian Church in Invercargill. She

has had considerable experience working across Southland as a Resource Minister for ten parishes,

most of whom are in small rural communities. She was Ordained in 2008 after eight years as the

Parish Assistant and Mission and Evangelism Enabler at First Church.

Rev. Heather previously worked as a Registered Nurse for 20+ years, then commenced studies in

Theology. She graduated with a Bachelor of Theology in 2000 and completed a Masters of Ministry

in 2014. She has also had extensive experience on National and Regional Boards of Chaplaincies and

the Presbyterian Church.

Heather is married to Jim, who is a retired Chef.  They have a son and a daughter, living in Invercargill.
